This project is the harmless treatment of oil-based mud and rock debris for natural gas drilling. The main component of the mud is oil containing drilling cuttings. After filtering through a sieve, the content of cuttings with a size of 12mm to 5mm in the mud is about 10%, the content of cuttings with a size of 5mm to 1mm is about 20%, the content of cuttings with a size of 1mm to 60 mesh is about 35%, and the content below 60 mesh is 45%. The pump is required to deliver the drilling mud to the boiler for spray combustion under high pressure for harmless treatment. The spray pressure is 8 kg, the flow rate is 15 m3/h, the spray is wear-resistant, the operation is stable, the service life is long, and the operation cost is low.

Introduction to the use of other pumps:

The project first uses a centrifugal wear-resistant slurry pump with a power of 30 kW, a pressure of 8 kg, and a flow rate of 20 cubic meters. After 3 days of use, the traffic decreases and the pressure does not increase. After inspection, it was found that the impeller and pump casing were severely worn and needed to be replaced. Usage of screw pump: power 22 kW, pressure 10 kg, flow rate 16 cubic meters per hour. Due to the low suction capacity of the screw pump, it was unable to suck up mud. After installing a high-level feed, the flow rate decreased and there was no pressure in less than 8 hours of operation. Upon inspection, it was found that the screw was worn and the screw rubber sleeve was damaged and torn, making it unusable.

Use of plunger mud pump:

The motor has a power of 18.5 kilowatts, a pressure of 20 kilograms, and a flow rate of 19 cubic meters per hour. Using a pressure of 8 kilograms, the valve core replacement cycle is once every 3 months, with 4 pieces per time and a unit price of 600 yuan. The plunger seal replacement cycle is once every 6 months, with 2 pieces per time and a unit price of 80 yuan.

Comprehensive evaluation: Natural gas drilling oil-based mud contains drilling cuttings as sandstone slurry, which has strong wear resistance. Both centrifugal pumps and screw pumps cannot be used due to their inability to withstand the wear and tear of sand and gravel, but the plunger mud pump has a special structure and is minimally affected by sand containing materials. The main components are almost not worn, so it can be used for a long time without being affected. Compared to other pumps, plunger mud pumps are more suitable for transporting such materials.
