  Pressure and flow attenuation

  Damaged seals can cause leakage of media (such as liquids, slurries) or hydraulic oil, resulting in the inability to maintain system pressure, continuous decrease in outlet pressure, unstable or significantly attenuated flow, and inability to meet production needs (such as reduced efficiency in irrigation, grouting, transportation, and other scenarios).

  Accelerated wear of core components

  After the seal fails, impurities in the medium (such as sediment and particles) may enter the gap between the plunger and the pump head, exacerbating the wear of the ceramic plunger surface (although ceramics are wear-resistant, long-term friction with impurities can cause scratches), leading to further deterioration of the plunger seal and forming a vicious cycle.

  Hydraulic oil leakage can lead to insufficient lubrication in the cylinder, increased friction between the plunger and the inner wall of the cylinder, which may cause cylinder strain, plunger deformation, and even mechanical blockage of the pump body.

  2、 Media leakage causes safety and environmental issues

  Risk of leakage of corrosive/toxic media

  If the pump is transporting corrosive media such as acidic and alkaline solutions, chemical raw materials, etc., leakage caused by damaged seals can corrode the pump body, pipelines, and surrounding equipment, and even pollute the ground, soil, and water sources; If it is a toxic medium (such as certain organic solvents), leakage may also endanger the health of operators and pose a risk of poisoning.

  Safety hazards of high-temperature media

  When transporting high-temperature liquids (such as hot water and thermal oil), the leaked high-temperature medium may burn the operators or cause the combustion of surrounding combustibles (if the medium is flammable).

  3、 Increased energy consumption and rising production costs

  Leakage of seals leads to pressure loss, and the pump needs to consume more energy to maintain its original output (such as an increase in motor load), resulting in an increase in energy consumption such as electricity and fuel.

  The leaked medium (such as valuable chemical raw materials, lubricating oil) itself is a material loss, and additional costs need to be invested to deal with the leakage (such as cleaning, recycling, and replacing contaminated equipment).

  4、 System pollution and secondary faults

  After hydraulic oil leakage, external dust and moisture may enter the hydraulic system, contaminating the remaining hydraulic oil, causing blockage or wear of hydraulic valves, cylinders, and other components, leading to more complex hydraulic system failures (such as directional failure and unstable pressure).

  Leakage of medium into hydraulic oil (such as water entering the hydraulic system) can cause emulsification and decreased lubrication performance of hydraulic oil, further exacerbating the wear of mechanical components inside the pump.

  5、 Production interruption and safety accidents

  Severe damage to the seal may cause the pump to suddenly shut down, interrupting the production line (such as in continuous operation scenarios such as chemical reactions, sewage treatment, mining grouting, etc.), resulting in production delays and economic losses.

  If the seal suddenly fails under high-pressure conditions (such as high-pressure cleaning and high-pressure grouting), it may cause pipeline vibration, joint rupture, and even pump body component cracking due to a sudden drop in pressure, posing a risk of mechanical injury.

  In short, although the seal is a "vulnerable small part" of ceramic plunger pumps, its damage hazards have a chain and expansion. Therefore, regular inspection and timely replacement of seals are the key to avoiding the above problems, which can ensure stable operation of equipment and reduce safety and environmental risks.
